Message from the Head of Tay Creggan
Well – what a year! Full of the highs and lows of teenage life. As my time draws near, I’ve been reflecting on what I will miss about being at TC – in much the same way as the students may have been doing. Certainly, I will miss the collegiality of the staffroom, the quietness of the grounds and the quirkiness of the building – but what I will miss most of all are the students, and watching over them as they conquer fears and chase dreams.
We have had a brilliant (although exhausting!) end to the year. Bailey and Elena have represented TC admirably at the Wade Institute Pitch Fest and the following students have been recognized for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award:
Elisabeth Lee, Erin Ellis, Emma Orgill, Isabelle Wallace, Sharon Zhou, Maddi Pasco, Jasmine ma, Amelia Allen, Hannah Davis, Ella Fotheringham, Zoe Langlands, Liya Luo, Saidie Schlict, Olivia Harris.
We congratulate them for their dedication throughout the year. Several more students are very close to achieving their goals – so will continue into 2024.
Our Wholebeing afternoon was terrific fun – culminating in a Colour run! Plenty of laughs and enjoyment to end the year with all years 7-10 students at Tay Creggan. Yesterday, we enjoyed our trip to St Kilda beach – a stand-up paddle boarding lesson and an opportunity to spend time with friends.
Finally, I wish to record my thanks to the outstanding Tay Creggan staff – such a committed bunch of educators who strive, every day, to ensure that each student is encouraged and nurtured.
I wish all families a very safe, happy and healthy Christmas break – I thank you for your unwavering support – as the African proverb suggests, “it takes a village to raise a child”.
Best wishes,
Karyn
